Cleveleys Sign at the seafront

Public Art: Cleveleys Sign

If you’ve been along the seafront you’ll have noticed various large pieces of public art. But have you been eagle-eyed enough to spot the huge Cleveleys sign, at the town boundary with Blackpool?

Public Art: Cleveleys Sign

Cleveleys is in the Borough of Wyre. The boundary with the neighbouring Borough of Blackpool is at Kingsway, not far from the main shopping street, Victoria Road West.

Here, you’ll also find a little building which houses United Utilities equipment. The rear flood wall of the sea defences follows the line of this little building, and it’s here where you’ll find the Cleveleys sign.

You can’t miss it if you’re walking from Blackpool towards Cleveleys. Going the other way it’s less obvious to spot! When you’re walking from Cleveleys in a southerly direction with the sea on your right, just look to your left, against the Shipwreck Memorial.

Tucked around the corner, on the southerly facing side of the sea wall, is the huge, concrete Cleveleys sign. It was commissioned and put there when this phase of sea wall works were completed, way back in 2010.

It’s a great spot to seek out and snap a selfie! Why don’t you post your photos in our Visit Fylde Coast Facebook Group?

Other Cleveleys Signs to Spot

The huge concrete letters at the promenade aren’t the only sign that you’ll spot in Cleveleys. There are three other ‘Welcome’ signs on the main routes into town. They’re a bit less obvious though – have you seen them?

There’s two against the Blackpool to Fleetwood tramway – one adjacent to Aldi and another near to the junction with Thornton Gate. The third one is at Victoria Road West, near to the footpath entrance to Morrisons.

Mary’s Garden, outside Peacocks on Victoria Road West, is a selfie spot with a Welcome to Cleveleys! Created in 2025 by the Care for Cleveleys group, it’s made from recycled materials.
