Customer Facilities

The takeaway counter and cafe facilities are accessible, although there is one small step to get inside the shop door. Inside the cafe area are tables with fixed seating where you can enjoy the warm and bustling atmosphere while you eat.

Although there’s level access inside the premises there is a small step to access the shop. Wheelchairs, scooters and prams are welcome inside. Customer toilets are provided on the ground floor and there is a further step to get to them.

Eat In or Takeaway

The Family Bakery certainly gets the Visit Cleveleys seal of approval. I think we’ve eaten our way around their entire menu over the years! They sell really fresh food and delicious flavours and you can tell it’s homemade to order.

Build your own from the sandwich bar (above left) – choose which bread you’d like then fill it with your choice of fillings. You can literally have exactly what you want. That also includes sausage, bacon and other breakfast favourites from the hot & savoury counter (above right). Keeping warm in there you’ll also find a selection of pastries, pies and pizza slices.

If you’re catering for an event you can also order a buffet or take-out food for a large group from the Family Bakery. Sandwich platters can be made to order for any size of party, including whatever extras you fancy from the wide range. You can also get afternoon tea boxes for one – if you want to treat someone special.

Food to eat-in is ordered from the cafe counter – choose from a wide menu which includes all your favourites. From toasted teacakes (or toast) and beans on toast, to a full cooked meal. All those old-school dishes that you make at home – but all done for you!

History of Family Bakery Cleveleys

Previously called Neal’s Family Bakery, the business was started by Raymond Neal in 1938 before being taken over by son Andrew.

Look at this very old photograph from Family Bakery’s Facebook page, of the row of shops. R A Sykes Chemist and Photographer and publisher of important early scenes of Cleveleys, is now the site of today’s Family Bakery.

Andrew and wife Jane sold the business to Ben Dawson in March 2024. Dawsons Bakery was a wholesale bakers based in Fleetwood who’d been trading for more than 20 years. The community was relieved to find that the Family Bakery tradition was being continued and this much-loved shop wouldn’t be lost from the heart of the town.

Since being taken over by Dawsons on 3 April 2024, the shop hasn’t changed much at all. There’s been a few alterations but the business is almost just the same. Food on sale inside is still the same great range that the town knows and loves.

Overall

The Family Bakery make and serve great food in a friendly, warm atmosphere. Their range of food doesn’t disappoint – home made and tasty food that’s fresh every day. Definitely one to visit.
