Care for Cleveleys Shop

Care for Cleveleys Shop

Have you visited the Care for Cleveleys Shop yet? It’s a fundraising retail shop and community hub, home to the group which looks after the town. Find it at Princess Road near the bus station.

What’s in the Care for Cleveleys Shop?

Formerly the British Red Cross Charity Shop, number 2 Princess Road had been empty for almost a year when Care for Cleveleys took it over. Now it’s a bright, clean and friendly space that’s the heart of the town. The purpose of the retail space is to generate a steady stream of income, all of which will be spent on improvements and projects in town. Entirely run by volunteers, none of the team is paid for their work.

Second Hand and As-New Goods

Inside on the ground floor, the retail space is an Aladdin’s Cave of all kinds of finds. Recycled and repurposed, donated goods get a new life and saved from landfill. Choose from a wide range of good quality goods – many of them brand new, in packets and with tags. There’s ladies, men’s and children’s clothes and shoes. Plus bric-a-brac, accessories, toys and homewares.

Donations are welcome – please bring them to the front of the shop, but only during opening hours. That’s Tues to Sun from 10am to 4pm. Sorry, no electricals.

Unique Gifts from Seaside Emporium

Once sold by The Rabbit Patch, artist Derek Littlewood has donated rights to all of his catalogue of paintings and images to Care for Cleveleys. Now, prints made by volunteers and sold in the Care for Cleveleys Shop. 100% of the proceeds (after deducting the cost of materials) goes straight into the fund for projects in the town.

Choose from a wide range of unique views – including watercolour paintings and bright graphical scenes. There’s most of your favourite Fylde Coast locations and landmarks to choose from – and all for a great cause.

Prints are available in a variety of sizes, from cards to A3 mounted and framed. If the image you want isn’t on the shelf it can be made to order for collection later. There’s also a great selection of tasteful Christmas cards too, from Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Blackpool and Lytham St Annes.

Volunteer-Made Crafts

All kinds of people enjoy making all kinds of things to sell in the shop and raise funds. Choose from hand-knitted and crochet made creatures, hair clips, badges, fridge magnets and more. Some of these kind volunteers are regular Care for Cleveleys helpers – others enjoy crafting at home and donate the things they make.

Keep calling in to see a seasonal and changing range of goodies and gifts. All made with love and a special handmade touch.

Cleveleys Merchandise

Looking for quality, tasteful local merchandise? Then look no further! The Care for Cleveleys Shop also stocks a range of mugs, bags, keyrings, and nice little trinkets and souvenirs.

Pick up a copy of the current year’s fundraising Cleveleys Calendar while you’re there. Full of delightful views of this special seaside town.

And if you love the artwork trail along the seafront, you’ll also want your very own copy of The Sea Swallow. It’s the storybook which inspired the art trail – weaving together local folklore, fact and fiction in a tale that’s Cleveleys own.

About the Care for Cleveleys Community Hub

The Care for Cleveleys Shop is an amazing space. It’s not just a shop though. Equally important as the retail space are the rooms behind. The building enables the group to do such a lot more in so many ways!

On the ground floor is a large community room which doubles up for everything! On Tuesdays it’s sorting-central – a hive of activity as volunteers sort the previous weeks donations. With goods organised by type, and clothes neatly hung, steamed and priced, order is usually restored by the end of the day !

This room is a large space, deliberately not filled with furniture. It’s used for making and painting large things – props for events and shelves for the shop. People use it for meetings, coffee mornings and drop-in events. A really useful and well used space. Behind is the kitchen – and of course that’s very important!

Upstairs on the first floor is the stock room for storing out-of-season donations, an office and the craft room. Overlooking Princess Road at the front of the shop, the craft room is a friendly, comfortable space, also used for all manner of things. Groups meet to make things for the shop. You can also come along to craft workshops here too.

If you’re interested in joining any of these activities, just go along. Find all the dates and details on the Care for Cleveleys website. And have a look at the work of the group in this YouTube playlist. It’s great fun!
