What’s at Blackpool North Pier?
Blackpool North Pier is an amazing example of Victorian architecture. You can explore it’s history here, and find out what makes it unique.
Promenade along an Original Heritage Pier
To ‘Promenade’ was originally to dress in your fine clothes and take a stroll in a popular place. Like the seafront – or a pier like this one.
Children’s Rides
There are traditional children’s rides at both ends of Blackpool North Pier where your little ones can enjoy the fun of the fair! You’ll spot the Helter-Skelter from the promenade. There’s also a beautiful original merry go round too, plus various other rides including the train to the end of this Blackpool pier.
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets can only be redeemed on the Pier where they were bought. Not transferable.
Blackpool North Pier Theatre, the Joe Longthorne Theatre and Studio
There’s a different show for everyone at the theatre at the end of the pier. Grade II listed, built in 1939. With a capacity of 1465 it’s now one of only six operating pier-theatres in the country, and one of only four operating on the seaward end of the pier. Alongside is the Joe Longthorne Studio. It’s a smaller, 130 seated performance room and all purpose venue for intimate performances, book launches, talks, meetings and exhibitions.
In both venues there’s a wide range of shows and performance, with something for everyone. From adult comedy to children’s shows, music, tributes, big names and so much more.
Amusement Arcades
The Amusement Arcades at North Pier open all year round. Test your skills with a selection of video games, fruit machines and prize machines, games of skill, and pinball. There are even machines for the very little ones – there’s something for all the family at the Pier arcade. Open daily from 10am.
Cafes and Kiosks
From the entrance to the end of the Pier you’ll find an interesting assortment of kiosks, plus plenty of places to eat and drink too.
There’s the British seaside favourite of fish and chips – and of course ice cream. Choose from light snacks, meals, sandwiches, cakes and drinks. Various other kiosks sell gifts, sweets, records and clothes, and no self respecting pier would be complete without a resident fortune teller. Visit Gypsy Petulengro to see what the future holds for you!
Watch the Starlings
North Pier is one of a few places in the country where you can see the amazing sight of a starling murmuration.
Throughout the months of late autumn and winter, the Piers (especially North and Central) are a roost for tens of thousands of birds. Each night when they arrive at dusk they create a spectacular display known as a murmuration. They swoop and glide as one huge, black mass as they fly to the pier to bed down for the night.
History and Heritage
Blackpool North Pier is an amazing structure – especially when you consider that it was built in 1862/3! Built by Eugenius Birch, the eminent architect of the day, it’s the oldest remaining example of his work that’s still in use.
It’s seen wars and fires, shipwrecks and changing fashions. But it’s still standing and entertaining holiday makers now as it did back then. There’s loads of interesting information about the history and heritage of Blackpool North Pier here.
Don’t forget to stop by and say hello to one of the original glove puppets – it’s where Sooty comes from!
Bars at North Pier
There’s LOADS to see and do at Blackpool’s Heritage Pier! Open throughout the season it’s a great place to enjoy the views, the bars and the end-of-the-pier theatre. Plenty for all ages with the little train to the end of the pier, children’s rides and adult comedy – it’s all here!

- take in the cafes and kiosks along the way, with their food, souvenirs and experiences

Amy Lou, from Tipton, famously hit the front page of every national tabloid, when the powerhouse singer wowed judges with her amazing voice. At thirty weeks pregnant during her first audition, she gave birth to her daughter Aida just hours before it aired. Singing Beyonce’s Listen from the Broadway Musical Dreamgirls, she left the judges speechless.
In the semi-finals, she again took the roof off with her incredible rendition of And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going, displaying the sort of vocal Olympics only championed by the likes of the legendary Whitney Houston and Jennifer Hudson. She narrowly missed out on winning the whole competition when she sang Christina Aguilera’s Reflection from the Disney film Mulan in the Grand Final, and probably deserved to take the crown overall. Amy is quite simply one of the greatest singers anyone could ever wish to hear!

The group achieved 18 top-20 singles and four top-10 albums, and were one of the UK’s most popular boy bands during the early to mid-1990s, aided by strong tabloid interest in their ‘bad boy’ image, compared to the ‘clean cut’ image of rivals Take That. Their style blended pop and hip hop in songs such as “House of Love” and “Let It Rain”.

Katie Hopkins – True – Fri 18 Oct at 7pm
For this ALL NEW SHOW, Katie Hopkins takes a look around at the madness we face and shreds the lunatics with her usual brutal honesty. Following her record-selling, 43 venue, Spring Tour, this extra special thank you tour TRUE will play to just a few theatres. “You know what. We all think it, she’s the only one with the balls to say it out loud”.
“We’ve got politicians sending pictures of their genitals to strangers, unelected leaders in every county in the United Kingdom and ordinary folks paying £6 for an egg sarnie. In Scotland I have to accept Patricia has a Penis, and in Wales the speed limit is slower than a fat bird on a stairwell. It’s not YOU that’s going mad, it’s the stuff you are surrounded by.
