When did you last call into Cleveleys Library? Of course there are plenty of books, but there’s lots of other things in this community building too. Call in and take a look.
Events include Storytime, Knit and Natter and board games. Plus there’s community computers and people to help you to use them too.
It reopened in early 2019 after a period of closure. The bright and welcoming space was refurbished before reopening for business!

Cleveleys Library Reopens
After a period of closure, on Tuesday 12 March 2019 at 9am, Lancashire County Councillor Stephen Clarke performed the honours.
It was shame that the weather spoiled itself, but the rain and wind didn’t dampen the happy atmosphere! Here’s the actual opening –

Cleveleys library is now fully open again after a full refit and refurbishment. With the dividing walls out inside the building it’s an airy, bright and open-plan space. There’s new fixtures, fittings and shelves, along with new computers and even new books.
The work has made such a difference and it can take its place once again as a well used community building. Take a look around the inside of the building in this clip –
Local councillors, community representatives and local people came along to the opening event. Plus children from Manor Beach and Northfold Primary Schools. Tea and coffee was served and official photos were taken. It was a lovely way to mark the event. Here are some photos from the morning –

The Closure of Cleveleys Library
In 2016 Cleveleys Library was earmarked for closure as part of a Lancashire County Council spending review.
The day before it closed, on Saturday 19 November 2016, the staff held an “Open Day” with coffee and cake. They joined library users to celebrate everything great about Cleveleys Library. They finished on a nice day with all their loyal customers, saying ‘thank you’ for your support.

Not happy with the decision, the local community rallied round and campaigned for the library to be reopened. A variety of suggestions were put forward to secure it’s future.
In April 2018 UR Potential had put all of the steps in place to acquire and run Cleveleys Library. The intention was to create a new Hub as a community asset. It was being arranged as an asset transfer from Lancashire County Council.
However, all the best plans of mice and men and all that – alas it was not to be. UR Potential withdrew from the arrangement. Cleveleys library remained closed until eventually, Lancashire County Council found a way to reopen it again under their own control.
