If you love Thornton, make your way to the shopping centre, adjacent to the Co-op, for the Thornton Christmas Lights Switch on.
Thornton Christmas Lights Switch On
Tuesday 26 November 2019 at 4pm
The Thornton Festive Lights will be switched on at 4pm at the Thornton Shopping Centre Victoria Road West on Tuesday November 26th.
The community will join together again this year to see Thornton shining bright for the festive season. All Thornton residents are invited to come to this community event and welcome Christmas together.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Wyre, Ann Turner and Andrea Kay, will wish all the the crowds present a Happy Christmas. Then the big red button is pressed by two children from Thornton’s Primary Schools.
Guests and parents, friends and local residents are welcome. Everyone will listen to the combined school’s choirs sing carols, before tea and mince pies at Baines Endowed School.
This year Santa will be in his grotto on that afternoon at Maison of Beauty. It’s opposite the Christmas Tree, which will be bigger and better than ever before. Contribute to the collection in the co-op and you can also buy raffle tickets on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November.
There are also lights in the trees at the Little Theatre and at the new Co-op on Fleetwood Road North. Anyone coming in to Thornton can see what a vibrant pace it is.
This event is organised by the Thornton Festive Lights sub-committee, part of Thornton Action Group, in co-operation with Wyre Council.
