More About the National Scout Car Championships
It’s an annual Scout event that moves from venue to venue to make it as accessible as possible to as many Scout groups across the UK as is possible. Many venues are visited over and over again, but the aim is to keep the event moving from year to year.
Blackpool, Manchester and Darley Moor are regular venues and this event was first held in Cleveleys in 2015.
There are races open to Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts and even the leaders. The format of the day holds three races:
Sprint Races: This is a 4 driver team event where the winners are the team with the lowest total time.
Championship Races: These are held to determine the fastest driver in each division of each class.
Grand Prix Races: These are where teams of 4 drivers race to complete as many laps as possible in a given time, usually 20 minutes.
The racing is usually very hard fought and competitive, but always friendly.
