Let’s face it, we get our fair share of the wet stuff here in the UK! So here’s some ideas for Things to Do in the Rain in Cleveleys.
Things to Do in the Rain in Cleveleys
It might not be a massive town, or have the variety of Blackpool… But there’s still plenty to do in Cleveleys when it rains. Watch our video, filmed in January, for some ideas…
The video starts at the seafront, which you’d probably not want to visit in the rain though! Wide and exposed, the rain blows hard here, straight across the Irish Sea! But once you’re away from the coast it’s not as bad. And in the town centre you can dodge from shop-to-shop. Here’s some ideas for things to do in the rain –
Visit the Amusements
Amusement arcades might not be the first thing you think of when you’re planning your day out in Cleveleys. But this small, family friendly seaside town is actually well catered for! With not one but two arcades for families and young people, and two with fruit machines for over 18’s. So you can have a great time testing your luck – and skill – with games for all the family!
Olympia Arcade
This is the one against the seafront, opposite the Plaza at the end of Rough Lea Road. Originally owned by the Mason family but recently bought by Crown Leisure. They’ve spent a lot of time and money on improvements, including the new art-deco-style signage at the front.

Inside there’s prize games, skill games and traditional amusement arcade fun. Olympia caters for all ages, from the youngest to the oldest in the family. And brand new for 2026 is the adventure golf course. You’ll find it at the front, in the space once occupied by the cafe.

Treasure Island
Set off along Victoria Road West from the Clock Shelter end and you’ll quickly reach the entrance to Treasure Island. It has a canopied entrance next to the ice cream kiosk. Pass through there and a large arcade opens up in front of you…

Treasure Island is deceptively large, spreading around the whole of the back of this big corner plot. Inside there’s prize games, skill games and traditional amusements, plus a separate area for over 18’s fruit machines. There’s even our own personal favourite – the dinosaur shooting game!
Crown Adult Slots
This is quite new, to the rear of the Olympia amusements at Rough Lea Road, in what used to be Steve’s Chippy. Crown Adult Slots is as the name suggests – fruit machines for over 18’s only.
Leisure Time Casino
This is another over 18’s arcade, with adult-only fruit machines. Leisure Time Casino is at the centre of Cleveleys high street, opposite Home Bargains.
Have a Bite to Eat
We’re not going to even try to list all the places where you might have a bite to eat in Cleveleys! There are plenty of cafes scattered throughout the town centre and nearby streets. All catering for a wide range of tastes and budgets.
Have a look at our section all about places to eat and drink. We’ve visited a lot of them, mostly making video reviews.
Go to the Cinema
The Vue Cinema was built as part of the redevelopment of the sea defences at Cleveleys. It’s been there since Jubilee Leisure Park was built back in 2006. It’s an eight screen cinema showing a wide variety of films. Perfect for entertainment for all the family, whatever the weather.

Visit the Pub!
There’s a growing selection of bars and leisure drinking places in Cleveleys. Together they cater for a wide age range and different types of socialising.
The Tramway, welcoming people visiting from inland, has had a full refurbishment for 2026. Cleveleys Wetherspoons is always packed. Across the road is Backstage. Related to the Waterloo in Blackpool it hosts a brilliant range of live bands and entertainment. The same owners recently opened The District in the former NatWest Bank building, home to live Sunday afternoon entertainment. Here you can spend Sundays with Lionel Vinyl, 80’s disco and Northern Soul, among others.
Across the road is the Greedy Banker, another new bar with a big city vibe, and across the tramway at Cleveleys Square is The Vault. After a stroll along the beautiful seafront, enjoy the reward of a meal or alfresco drink with amazing views at The Venue.
If a club atmosphere is more your thing, there’s a few WMC’s to choose from too. There’s the Wings Club opposite Wetherspoons, the Little X at the seaward end of Victoria Road West and The Top Club at Slinger Road, next to the long stay car park.
Watch the Weather!
If all else fails and you’re out of ideas for things to do in the rain in Cleveleys, you could always sit and watch the weather!
Drive to the seafront and head to Rossall Promenade. There, you can park for free, with your car facing the sea. There, at Rossall Beach, you can sit in the relative comfort of your vehicle. Watch the rain drops battering on your windscreen, while the weather passes over. If you’re lucky, you might even see the prevailing winds blowing away the rain clouds, leaving blue sky behind to follow from over the sea!
