Thornton Brass Band celebrating 50 years
Thornton Cleveleys Band have recently become North West Regional 4th Section Champions 2016.
The contest was held at the Winter Gardens on Sunday 28th February. There were 15 bands in the section in total, all playing the same piece "The Journal of Phileas Fogg" by Peter Graham. The band fought off tough competition from bands from all over the North West to claim the top prize.
As a result of this we have now been invited to compete in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain on 17th September 2016 at Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse. There, we will compete against other regional finalists from all over the country.
This is a great opportunity for the Band and represents the highest contesting achievement by Thornton Cleveleys Band since it was reformed in 1962.
The band have now begun fundraising for this trip. We have many events planned and would appreciate as much local support as possible.
Our upcoming concerts are on Sunday 20th March, at Thornton Little Theatre, starting at 7.30 and Sunday 15th May at the same venue and time.
