The shop radio scheme joins together retailers in Cleveleys to help in the fight against petty crime, shop lifting, vandalism, opportunism etc.
The radios are linked to the police and enable the retailers to pass information through to the police and each other when suspicious activity or known criminals are around.
The radio scheme has played a significant part in keeping crime levels at a bare minimum in Cleveleys, and enabling retailers to trade in a safe environment.
Thornton Cleveleys Association of Commerce & Trade is proactive in promoting the benefits of shopping in Cleveleys to both the resident and visiting population. It does this though its own projects and by working with other groups to support events, for example:

Check and see if you are entitled to relief on the Business Rates that you pay to Wyre Borough Council - don't pay any more than you have to!
If you fulfil the qualifying criteria, which includes only being the owner of only one business, then you could substantially reduce your payments.
Check out this link on the Wyre Borough Council website which takes you to all the criteria and information and the form to apply. Simply print it out, complete and post back to them.
It could be even better news! Once you are receiving Small Business Rate Relief you could save more! Legislation effective from 1 October 2010 to 30 September 2011 could reduce your payments even further. If you are a qualifiying business under the current scheme you should submit an application without delay, then you will automatically be contacted by Wyre Borough Council who will advise you of any further savings that could be made to your payments. If you would like to know more about the extended scheme, just go to this link.
How students are allocated work experience placements has recently changed and school age pupils are now required to find their own provider. This is good news because students will now be working with companies that they choose, therefore they will be more interested, engaged and likely to learn more and be a help in your business while they are there.
To help the students to get their hands on local opportunities, Thornton Cleveleys Association of Commerce & Trade are teaming up with Wyred Up to draw up a list of businesses who are willing to take placements, and this list will be available on the new Wyred Up website. If you would like to include your business on this list then please email Julie Barlow in Economic Development at Wyre Borough Council on jbarlow@wyrebc.gov.uk. Who knows, you could find your employees of tomorrow!
Wyred Up is a local initiative designed to encourage the businesses of Wyre to trade with each other and strengthen the local economy.
