Manor Beach invited to help Rossall Beach!

Added 14 January 2012

Rossall Beach Residents & Community Group will be holding their first fundraising event on Saturday 28 January, and all the pupils and their parents at Manor Beach School are invited!

Come along to Cleveleys United Reform Church between 10am and 2pm and get your hands on a bargain – with the money raised going towards improving the seafront at the north end of Cleveleys.

Leaflets are going home with all the pupils at Manor Beach Primary School, to invite them along - of course everyone else in Cleveleys is welcome too!

Sylvia is running the ‘Make and Take’ table, and children of any age who are big enough to hold a pair of scissors and draw can join in and have a go with the glue and craft stuff. There's a seaside theme with fish to make, and seaside notebooks too - to record what you find on the beach!

table top sale 2010

Organising a table top sale in warmer weather!

The Rossall Beach Group are starting to get a feel for organising events like this – in the last three years they have held events at local church halls and even in the open air on Rossall Promenade! There’s a long enough check list of preparation that goes into every event that our local community groups organise – including making sure that all the raffle tickets and prizes are ready, pricing up the goods, baking cakes and even making sure that change is available for all the customers!

Trustees, members and the public have been donating clothes, gifts and bric-a-brac, and there’s some good stuff to be had. There are books and records, toys, slippers, jewellery, clothes, and some good quality ornaments and giftware – so if you are feeling hard up after Christmas and want to get your hands on a crafty bargain then you need to make sure you get there early and bag a bargain!

If you just fancy half an hour and a bit of company and entertainment, call into the church anyway and say hello. You can have a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake, plus one to take home with you for later. The ladies of the group will have been baking so there are sure to be some lovely, old fashioned tasty treats.

The funds raised all go towards the groups objectives of ‘Improving the area for everyone’s enjoyment’, the ‘area’ being the section of promenade and seafront between the cafe and the five bar gate heading towards Rossall School – against Rossall Promenade in the area where you can park your car against the sea wall.

Anyone who enjoys the beach and waterfront and wants to get involved in its preservation and protection can join the group – membership is just £1 per year.

If you miss this sale, another one is scheduled for later in in the spring, with other events to be held outdoors in the summer.
