Promenade nearly complete

Added 1 March 2010
Cleveleys promenade has been under construction for some years now, and finally the last of the building work is almost complete.
The section from the end of the high street to the boundary with Blackpool is the last piece to be built, and matches the first sections which have already won in excess of 20 awards.
The sea side of the wall is built in sweeping Spanish Steps with uninterrupted access to the beach, although the shelters will be of a slightly different design because the top section is slightly narrower.
The side which abuts the road also matches the completed section with a raised planter behind a cream stone wall. The parking bays will remain, but against a neat and attractive edge instead of a sheer concrete wall!
Birse are due to be off-site very shortly, but it has to be said that they have been quite good neighbours and the legacy that they leave behind is something for generations to enjoy.
On July 4th there will be an official opening ceremony to mark the completion of the final phase and the whole promenade, so make sure you are there! The opening will be part of the Cleveleys Sea Festival event which will be a full day extravaganza of entertainment and fun for all the family! |
