Lifeboat at Cleveleys!

Added 21 June 2010

Getting ready to set off on a boat tow

Thankfully, we don't see the lifeboat too often at Cleveleys, yesterday we got a close-up!

On Sunday morning, the flags were flying on Rossall Prom, but it was nothing to do with the football - it was the RNLI gearing up for a charity boat tow. This was the Cleveleys leg of Fleetwood to Blackpool.

It's a fully functioning lifeboat they they use for practice, which the local crew have for a month to do fundraising and promotional work - the engine isn't what it should be so it's not used for rescues - just to practice righting a capsized boat.

A car load of bdoybuilders turned up and got into position....

... and then they were off!

At least they had a lovely day for it, to raise vital funds for a much needed charity that everyone who lives by the sea is grateful for.

Well done lads!
