Ice Rink nearly ready to open in Cleveleys!
Added 20 January 2011
The Fylde Coast has been home to an empty building on the promenade at Cleveleys, which has been stood waiting for it's new owners for a good few years since the completion of the Jubilee Leisure Park and the sea defence scheme, and speculation has been rife as to what it would become - a bingo hall and bowling alley being just two of the previous suggestions.
Sub Zero Leisure secured the lease during 2010 and are well on the way to completing the transformation of the building and are all set to open their state of the art ice skating rink early this year - hopefully by February half term if everything goes to plan with the utility supplies.
Visit Cleveleys have had a sneak preview and bring you some photos of the inside. It's going to be really impressive when it is finished and the quality of the building will certainly be a big asset to Cleveleys.
This is taken from upstairs off the mezannine floor which has been added, with a cafe and skate shop downstairs, and above it a racked seating area for spectators, along with a function room and bar with floor to ceiling windows to look over the rink. This will be available to functions and business events which is really good news with such little other provision locally.
We wish them every success with the venture although with the thought and effort (and money!) that has gone into it, it surely can't be anything other than a success.
