Going Potty at Marsh Mill

I think we've already established that I've gone potty, but earlier this week we were contacted by a couple who have started a small pottery craft business at Marsh Mill called Red Fox. They've got a blog too: http://joseph.redfoxpottery.com

Here's what they have to say:

I found one of the Visit Cleveleys small promotional cards in the Post Office yesterday, I really like them. Though of all the things on there I can't say I have seen hermit crabs in Cleveleys, or anywhere along the coast. (Yes, it was on the beach here, we brought it in and took it's photo, then took it back & released it!)

I can't wait till it gets warmer, I went out last Sunday with my sketchbook, watercolours and bottle of water all balanced on one arm with pencil and brush in the other, I got a lot of odd looks from the those sat in their cars.

I grew up around here whereas my wife migrated here from Scotland to go to university.  We are recent graduates of the University of Central Lancashire from the Ceramic design course.  We wanted to bring traditonal crafts back to the area as we don't have much left around here, so we started our studio here in Thornton Cleveleys where we live, my parents and Grandparents live here too.  I grew up on the beach and it continues to inspire my work.  My wife's work is inspired by animals and the Scottish Countryside. 

We want to be able to bring something to the community, and we are trying to raise our image.

We have events planned to bring craft to people who wouldn't otherwise have access to their creative streak:

Saturdays and every day in half term we have Kids and clay club which is different activities for children and they get to have a go on the potters wheel.

1030-1115 1-4year olds
1130-1215 5-8year olds
1230-1315 9-12 year olds

Obviously if families have children in more than one age group they can come to either or and don't have to come to two separate sessions
That is £7 per session or 5 for £25

During February and April for the adults we have the chance to throw a breakfast bowl and mug. Something personal that is achievable by most people and we will make sure even absolute beginners walk out of the studio with something they can be proud of. 

It is £22 including all the tuition, glaze, materials firings etc.  This is on Monday-Friday all day and Saturday afternoons
