Family day on Cleveleys beach
Added 7 June 2010
6 June saw the first ever Sandcastle competition on Cleveleys beach, and it was a really good event that saw the central beach packed with people busily building their constructions!
There were three categories for children, teenagers and adults, and the adults in particular took it very seriously with a number of them coming 'tooled up' with garden shovels and a variety of other tools.
The completed entries included a dog digging for his bone, an octopus, a world cup footballer, a walrus and dinosaur island.
Syd Little kindly headed the judging team along with Cllr Andrea Kay and Julia Bennett from the Gazette, and the prizes were donated by local Cleveleys companies.
It was a really good afternoon, enjoyed by all, and it didn't rain either which was a bonus!
