Countdown to Cleveleys Sea Festival begins!
Added 28 June 2010
With less than a week to go, the countdown to Cleveleys Sea Festival begins! The posters are up, the leaflets are out, and life and limb was braved to put the banners up on the roundabouts approaching Cleveleys!
'Cleveleys Sea Festival on
4 July is a new event on a grand scale - a full day of entertainment and fun for all the family - from toddlers to grandma, everyone is catered for!'
We kick off at 10.30 prompt on the promenade at the end of Victoria Road West with a Grand Opening Ceremony to mark the completion of the promenade.
Along with Poco Loco and the Rossall School band, the Mayor and dignitaries will then lead a procession all along the sea-side of the promenade to Jubilee Gardens. School children all over Cleveleys have made costumes with a theme of the sea, and there will be a short prize giving ceremony for the best of what they have made when they get to the Radio Wave stage.
There will be live music and entertainment all day on the promenade and the Radio Wave stage, 12' tall street walker puppets mingling with the crowd, a ride-on train on the prom, Farmer Parrs are bringing their petting animals, and Fleet Farm are bringing their ponies!
Blackpool Circus School are doing workshops, there will be sports try out areas, arts and crafts to join in with, a skateboard competition, kite surfing and beach hockey, model plane demonstrations and well over 50 stalls. And of course the Fairground for everyone!
At 5pm the event closes, after an hour of 'Churches Sea Sunday Service' on the prom, or youth bands on Jubilee Gardens, depending on your preference!
Now, can all Cleveleys get down on their knees and pray for fine weather! After all this sunshine it will be criminal if it rains!
