Carers Point! provides free information and support to Carers, Parent Carers & Former Carers 18+ across North Lancashire.
We do this by providing the following:
Carers Information line provides a direct line of contact to someone that can support you in finding out information, signposting to relevant agencies such as adult & children’s social care, benefits, support groups and much more. Additional to this we provide a listening ear. The telephone is manned Monday to Friday 9.00am until 5.00pm.
Newsletters provide information and updates on local carers groups, forthcoming events, carers stories, benefit news and more.
Carers activities and events - supports carers through the provision of social activities. Monthly activities include going out for meals, visiting places of interest, going on walks and much more, friendly and fun group that welcome new members.
Time for Me Fund – is set up to assist carers to have a break. Carers can apply for up to £350.00 per year to help cover the cost of an activity. This can range from a short holiday to buying a washing machine to a course of driving lessons. Applications can only be considered 6 months after registering with Carers Point!
Peace of Mind 4 Carers - This service gives adult, parent & young carers and the people they care for PEACE OF MIND knowing that together they have completed a contingency plan that covers all aspects of the needs of the cared for person and the care and support that the carer provides should an emergency arise for the carer. The plan is registered with a 24/7 call service who will active their plan ensuring that either a informal carer, existing personal assistant/domiciliary care service or the funded replacement care service Caritas & Nugent will step in and provide the role of the carer should a crisis arise stopping the carer from providing their caring role.
Local, county, regional and national forums are for consultation between carers and professionals. Carers have the opportunity to gather information and voice their opinions at these forums on the future development of Lancashire’s health, social care and other related services.
We also provide support around carers assessment and refer into other services
For more information or to register with Carers Point! contact us either by telephone, email or website |

The word Community is no happy coincidence. We are proud that both musical groups comprise of various ages, skills, interests & talents, enabling everyone to have the opportunity to explore new interests, pick up old hobbies or just give something they have always wanted to do, a try.
CARLETON COMMUNITY CHORUS . . . . . . was set up in October 2010, and ably managed by Andy Brooke, a music teacher from Thornton Primary School, we now boast over 40 members, and we are still growing. The choir is open to all adults in the local and wider community. Some of our members are talented singers and musicians, although you don't have to be able to read music to join - some members had never even sung outside the shower before. We have an ecelectic repertoire, singing a variety of material, including classical, pop and show songs.
CARLETON COMMUNITY BAND . . . . . . formerly Stanah Concert Band, was set up in September 1997 and used to be based at Stanah Primary School, Thornton until it moved to Carleton in September 2010. Ably managed by Terry Roberts; without whom we could not function, the band is moving from strength to strength. Terry’s enthusiasm and jokes seem limitless as does the choice of eclectic music he finds for us to play. If you play an instrument, why not come and join us.
CARLETON COMMUNITY CHORUS
……rehearsals are every Tuesday, during term time, from 7.00pm until 8.15pm
@ Carleton Green Primary School, Arundel Drive, Carleton.

Fleetwood Time Bank is a new, innovative form of volunteering where anybody over the age of 16 can volunteer by sharing their skills within their local community and actually receive something back.
The concept is simple and has been proven to work in other areas. Members of the bank can give help and support to other members and deposit their time – one hour equals one time credit. They are able to spend their time credits when they need something doing themselves. For example, you may be able to walk a members dog one hour a week and another member may offer to do some gardening one hour a week for you.
No money is involved – all that is banked is time.
If you live in Fleetwood (have a Fleetwood Postcode) and would like further information, please telephone

Group Description
If you've seen Community Choirs being formed and performing on TV and wished that there was something like that in Poulton, your prayers have been answered with the new Poulton People's Choir!
Obviously, you'll need a basic interest in performing and ideally be able to hold a note, but the whole point of the brand new Poulton People's Choir is to get people together enjoying a love of music, sharing that energy and excitement with others, and at the same time making friends and developing a new hobby that unites a group of people. There's so much that you can get out of joining a group like this - especially with the long winter night coming on, this could be the start of a whole new hobby!
Tony Brindle-Wills is the musician behind the Choir, and with a group of fellow musicians decided to start the choir and see what happened. So far they have about 20 people signed up - with plenty of room for many more!
Rehearsals are every Wednesday night at Poulton Methodist Church on Queensway - so nice and handy for the car park! The first rehearsal is on 19th October, which gives time for more people to join in and rehearse before the Christmas season and the opportunity to perform sing-along carols. Then next year Tony is hoping to get involved with the local events in Poulton and perfoming at Poulton Gala and the like.
So if you sing in the shower, belt out classics in the car, or perform while hoovering, this is your chance to shine! Just turn up at the rehearsals, or get in touch with Tony on the details below.
Rehearsals start October 19th 2011
7:30pm – 9:00pm then every Wednesday up to Christmas.
Venue: Poulton Methodist Church
Open to people of all ages and abilities.
You don’t have to be able to read music to join.
You will know all the songs we learn.
Poulton People’s Choir is about to start rehearsing, and you could be part of it.
We will practice a selection of Christmas carols and songs over the next 8 weeks, and then perform in and around the Poulton area in the run up to Christmas.
