Cleveleys is a coastal town in the northwest,
on the Fylde Coast midway between Fleetwood
and Blackpool.
It’s a busy place and is visited all year round by
both people who live around the Fylde coast and those
who travel here for day trips and holidays. But it’s not like
either of its neighbours. Cleveleys doesn’t have the seaside
pzzazz of Blackpool, but it's more of a seaside resort than its next door neighbour Fleetwood.
Cleveleys is an ideal place to come and enjoy a taste of how Britain used to be - but with all the mod-cons! A thriving high street with plenty of shops, pavement cafes, buskers and entertainment make it a pleasant place to visit, and no visit to the seaside would be complete without a trip to the beach – and what a beautiful sea front it is! The brand new, award winning promenade sits alongside miles of golden sands where you can build sandcastles, paddle and walk to your hearts content – bring your wellies and you can even paddle in the middle of winter! Also on the seafront is a children’s playground, a park (Jubilee Gardens) if you prefer grass and a cinema, and on the sea end of the high street there are a few amusement arcades and children’s fairground rides, so there is plenty to do and see.
The icon links to Google Street Maps at the promenade at the end of the high street. Navigate your way around - turn left on Promenade North to go in the direction of Blackpool. Head right along promenade North and you'll follow the line of the brand new promenade, past the cinema and seafront cafe, and Jubilee Gardens on your right. You'll end up at Rossall Promenade. The Google map ends with the road at the Five Bar Gate, but you can carry on walking to Fleetwood.
A thriving network of community groups work together to put on a programme of events through the year, so subscribe for news updates and you’ll know when to come along. Cleveleys Community Centre is just one of the busy community hubs. There are events with music and entertainment through the summer at the Plaza on the Promenade at the end of the high street.
A flat landscape makes it ideal for walking and biking, and plenty of sea front parking to the north and south makes it ideal for a day out at the coast. While the adults enjoy a bit of retail therapy, the beach is usually occupied by families enjoying old fashioned family fun – walking with the kids and dogs, playing games, climbing on the rock groynes and splashing in the pools.
